Finally, a decent harvest......

Shallots!

They will be keeping me company in my office on the counter I started my seedlings on earlier in the year. The office is filled with the heady scent of onion-ee, garlic-ee, well, shallot odor!

I'm hoping that I don't smell this way at the end of the day! haha

The onions are shaping up and they look like they'll be ready to harvest in about a week. They may have to cure in the laundry room - I still haven't quite figured out where to put them yet. I'm sure it will get resolved. What I'm not sure of is if anyone will want to visit our odorous house while all of these are curing! Guess I'll find out who my true friends are!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

  2. At least you won't have to worry about being visited by vampires!

If it makes you feel any better, I have this year's garlic harvest curing in the living room.

  3. That's what I am wondering is where I will cure garlic/onions when we grow them, haha. All I know is they need dry.
If they need cool, then it will probably have to be the trailer, because the house won't have A/C, just a lot of fans and maybe a small cooler in the bedroom. ;)

I would still come by, and would probably want to taste some, too. ;)

  4. I'm growing shallots this year, too, along with garlic (already curing) and red and yellow onions. But it's the shallots I'm worried about - they seem awfully puny in the bed beside the onions. Did you grow yours from seeds or sets?

  5. There are far more smelly scents than that of the humble onion... just think of that French onion soup you'll be making come the cooler weather.
You had asked about the flowers in my post, the white is a Rose of Sharon and the pink and maroon are Hollyhocks which are now over ten feet tall.
    Enjoy the week.
