Village Life

Our village home

As I had posted a few months ago, the hubsters and I left our beloved Narnia and are now residing in a small historic village in rural Carroll County.
I cannot even begin to explain how hard this move was for me even though I wanted, no, needed to do this.

After settlement I found myself crying hysterically on the way to the settlement of our new home, which I might add, I was quite excited about!  Just goes to show you never know how attached you are to something until it's gone!

So now a new chapter has begun, and I have embraced it with open arms and an open mind.  The minute I walked in the door I knew I was home.  This house wrapped its 200+ year old memories around me and welcomed me to become a part of it.

Instead of almost 4 acres we are down to 1/2 acre.  We still have gardens, a coop, and folk music.  We have neighbors and now we have pajama's because we have neighbors! haha!

I got sick the week before the move, during the move, and was still sick the week after the move.  I just started feeling well again when lo' and behold, I got sick again.  A week and a half ago I had surgery and I am now just starting to feel human again.  Needless to say, besides being an emotional move, it was physically a hard move to!  Bah, humbug!

So, we didn't have any furniture for four days and time on our hands so the hubsters and I couldn't think of a better way to start life in this new/old house than, you guessed it, a jam.
We told everyone to bring a chair, that the beer would be cold and some munchies on hand, and lets ring in this new house.

the family room later that evening filled with the best friends ever!

Wow, what a night!  What a way to start our new life!

New life, old friends.  Love, warmth, friendship.

I hope y'all come along for the ride and watch us turn this new/old house into the beauty she once was.  You'll see transformations inside and out and I see chickens not too far off in the future.

I sure do need me some chicken t.v.  It's been way too long!

Missing you already...

Just a pop in and a brief update on the happenings here at the homestead.

In a little over two weeks, hubster and I will be leaving our beloved Narnia.  As I sit here and type, I am surrounded by the boxes and the memories.

This move was a decision - a very hard decision.

We shaped this place to be our sanctuary, our little piece of heaven, but, we both felt we didn't have the time to give this place the attention it deserves.  It is a private, nature laden retreat.  It has given us joy that I could never rightly express in words.  The magic of this place and the two hearts that have nurtured it know it is time for young hearts, and, young hearts with dreams and aspirations will now be the keepers of Narnia.  My hope for them is that they, too, will feel the magic of this place.  That when they go out in the morning to feed the chickens that they will stop, take a breath, look around and let the beauty stir from the ground to their souls.

My heart is heavy beyond words, but, excited for the future.  My future, the new keepers of Narnia's future.  It will all become ours in the end.  Magic has a way of doing that.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, y'all.  Go out on your plot of ground and tell it how much you appreciate it.

What I've been up to......

See this beautiful venue?

It was the start to the month of the "wearing of the green" , which means Irish Music Month.

Two and a half months of intense rehearsals, working 60 hours a week, plus just trying to get a good nights sleep has been on the itinerary.

Other than that, life goes on.  Finnegan turned 7, Fionnghuala turned 4, it's been a year since Shane's crossing the bridge, today marks year 6 here at the homestead.

Life truly does go by in a blink of an eye.

On another note, I was up at our friends at Green Akeys Farm to pick up some lamb and I got to finally see ol' Chanticleer the rooster.  Unfortunately I did not get a picture, but, wow, what an incredibly handsome rooster he turned out to be.  He has his own little harem of ladies by his side and appears to be quite happy which makes me very happy indeed!

Lots of new here, but, I'll have to save that for a more peaceful time to share.

In the meantime, have a peaceful Friday, y'all......

Peaceful Fridays.....

Take flight this weekend towards something you've always dreamed of.  Stretch your wings, feel the earth beneath your feet, then start flapping.  You'll be taking flight before you know it.

Just remember, the journey is as important as the destination.
Enjoy your flight....

Unpeaceful Friday.....

I'm not a big news junkie, so, sometimes I'm a day or so behind in what's happening in the world.
When I saw this new story, I had to share.  This is in the next county over from me.

Whoever did this should be ashamed, but, people like this do not know shame.  Only brutalilty.
I hope they find the shooter soon.

To the kind heart who opened her heart and farm for the unwanted, I hope that you can find peace during this awful moment.
